Bauerfeind Scientific Phlebology Award of the IUP
Junior scientists are put in the spotlight, 06.06.2005
The request for proposal for the 3rd Bauerfeind Scientific Phlebology Award presented by the International Union of Phlebology and Bauerfeind Phlebology has aroused broad interest. Meeting the deadline of May 31st interesting applications for study designs from, e.g., Slovenia, France, Austria and Switzerland were filed.
In the following weeks the international jury, composed of Prof. Dr. Hugo Partsch from Austria, Past President of IUP and Chairman of the jury, Dr. Albert-Adrien Ramelet, Switzerland, IUP Vice President, Prof. Dr. H.A. Martino Neumann, the Netherlands, Prof. Christine J. Moffatt, Great Britain, Dr. med. Horst Gerlach, Germany, MD Dr. Jorge Ulloa-Dominguez, Colombia, and MD Robert A. Weiss, USA, will evaluate the study designs.
The Bauerfeind Scientific Phlebology Award of the IUP is endowed with 20.000 €. The laureate will receive the first 10.000 € for his study design during the gala of the World Congress in Rio de Janeiro in October 2005. The second 10.000 € will be presented on completion of the project, which has to be finalized within an 18 months period.

Scientific findings, such as the results of phlebological studies supported by Bauerfeind, often make their way into product development.
